Sharon holds a B.Sc in Medical Science from Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology. She is currently undertaking an employment based PhD with a medical device company called Neuravi. Neuravi specialise in the development of mechanical thrombectomy devices for the removal of clots from stroke patients.
The research focuses on characterising the composition of blood clots retrieved from stroke patients, and developing clot analogues that are clinically representative of human stroke clots. This work will enable progress in the areas of clot imaging for stroke patients, device development, and procedure refinement.
