Dr Olga Lyashevska

Senior Researcher in Data Analytics

Olga is a multidisciplinary scientist with an interest in statistical modelling, scientific programming, data analysis and data management. She obtained an MSc in Environmental Sciences at Wageningen University, The Netherlands (2007) and a PhD in Biodiversity Quantification at Queen’s University Belfast, UK (2011).

In 2015, Olga joined GMIT as a postdoctoral scientist, and in 2018 she took up a data analytics function at MET working with a variety of ecological, environmental, medical data using statistical and machine learning tools. Olga is an active Linux user and works with a variety of programming languages, in particular, R, Java and Python.

Over the past 5 years she has attended various programming and data science conferences both as a presenter and attendee and contributed to open source code and documentation.

Olga is a member of Python committee in Ireland and doing a part-time course in Software Development at National College of Ireland.
