Dr Eugene McCarthy
Dr Eugene McCarthy completed his BSc in GMIT and subsequently completed his PhD at the Institute of Science, Technology and Medicine in Keele University (UK) in 2006. Following his PhD Eugene returned to GMIT as a Post-Doctoral research under the EI Applied research Enhancement programme and developed a core proteomics research facility which serves a number of clinical research programmes conducted in GMIT. In 2010, Eugene became Centre leader of the GMedTech Centre and worked closely with the Centre Director and PI’s to develop the engagement level with industry. Since then he has overseen the completion of >150 projects for industry. He has established strong links with a wide range of industrial partners across a number of sectors to develop a range of applied research programmes in GMIT. As the MET Technology Gateway Manager he is responsible for the direction of the Gateway, including the implementation the MET business plan, technology themes and the commercialisation of research.
